I've owned this turntable for about nine months and really love it. Out of the box, the turntable is virtually set up. The cartridge is already mounted. The instruction manual did not have a tracking force listed for this cartridge. A quick email to Sumiko got an newer of 2.3 grams, and a PDF of the cartridge owners manual. The set up instructions are fairly clear. They do caution against touching the belt with bare hands, so I used a guitar pick to move the belt to the motor pulley. The frosted plastic platter fits nicely over an intermediate platter. It's pretty easy to lift this off to change speed. The turntable does 33 and 45 rpm.
The carbon fiber tone arm is rigid and light weight. The force setting instructions are surprisingly easy to follow. I checked the setting with a Shure tracking force gauge and it was spot on. Shure SFG-2 Stylus Tracking Force Gauge
The turntable uses a small wall wart power supply. Maybe not my first choice, but it seems to work. The audio connections are hidden at the rear under side near the tone arm. As expected, the terminals are gold plated. The power switch is located under the left front of the deck.
The clear plastic cover stays put when opened. It is easy to remove from the hinge pins. The piano black finish is beautiful, and flawless. It is a dust and fingerprint magnet.
This turntable fits very nicely in my system. It is just about a perfect middle range turntable. I have an NAD phono prestage, an NAD integrated stereo 50w amplifier 326BEE, and Pioneer SP-B42-LR Andrew Jones designed speakers Pioneer SP-BS41-LR 130 Watt RMS 2-Way Speaker. I have a large vinyl collection, and a broad range of music taste, essentially everything except country and hip hop. My vinyl has never sounded so good.
This is a really fine turntable at a good price.
