First the pros - The finish and hardware are nice and give this unit a very clean look, although it appears to be veneer over pressboard. It comes with the legs unattached but only a phillips screwdriver is required to attach them. Although attaching the legs is a pretty simple, intuitive process, there are clear illustrated directions. The legs are made of heavy gauge steel and are very solid and sturdy. Front and back legs come as a single unit with the legs themselves welded to a steel plate that extends the depth of the console from front to back. Four large bolts secure the legs to countersunk nuts embedded in the cabinetry. These legs are highly unlikely to fold under if you slide the unit although the directions caution you to lift the unit to move it, not slide it.And then the cons - The devil is in the details. When the holes were drilled at the factory and the nuts countersunk for one of the leg units they were done unevenly. Two of the three sets of legs installed easily and correctly. But the holes in the bottom of the console for one of the legs weren't straight so the set of legs on one end installed crooked. The front leg is set approximately 1/4 inch toward the center of the unit and the back leg sticks out 1/4 inch beyond the edge of the console. Only three of the four bolts would engage the countersunk nuts. One of the nuts was so offset that the bolt would not engage at all. One other bolt, although it engaged the nut, was at enough of an angle that it wouldn't seat fully. By comparison the leg unit on the other side perfectly paralleled the edge of the console.
One of the cabinet doors is perfectly centered in the opening. The other door was set too low in the opening and scrapes the bottom of the cabinet when opening or closing it. When I bought my unit the hinges were listed as being soft-close. I notice that now the price has dropped and the hinges are not listed as soft-close. Although I paid a higher price I did not get the soft-close hinges.
I waffled between two or three stars for this unit, ending up with three stars because the console's issues, while not insignificant in my opinion, are details, not major structural flaws. Had I known about them beforehand, however, they would have been enough to dissuade me from buying this unit. Given its price point I expected higher quality from this unit than I got.
