We build it the way it's supposed to be built. Our speaker walls are MDF 1/2 inch(13mm) thick - that's 1/2" walls for a unit whose external dimensions are just 6"x10"x16". We then gave the speaker enclosure a reflect port for more bass.

CROON AUDIO Original Sound System Bluetooth Speaker (Grey) Review

I found out about Croon Audio while reading one of my RSS feeds one day and I am so glad that I came across it. Croon Audio's The Original speaker system started out as a project on Kickstarter.com and I wish I had known about it then because it would have been cheaper to get one that way. But, no regrets for the higher price, because this thing is awesome!

The first thing that you'll notice when you take it out of the box is that it feels substantial. There is substantial weight to the speaker, which is a trait of most audiophile equipment. The next thing that you'll notice is the beauty of the speaker. This thing is gorgeous!

The construction of the speaker cabinet, the stabilization legs and the paint on the unit, everything signals that you have in front of you a audiophile piece of equipment. I am somewhat liberal with my usage of the word [Audiophile], however, when you look at this system holistically, it can be used within this context.

This is not something that you would typically expect for this price point or from a Bluetooth speaker. Typically, in the Bluetooth speaker category you get weak performing and ugly looking mass production units.

The Original's sound is where all of this comes together. I have streamed music from my iPod/iPad/iPhone as well as Pandora. This speaker system sounds amazing. Even at low volumes the speaker is a capable performer. Turn it up mid-way and above and The Original really shines with beautiful clear detail and deep rich base. To outperform this speaker you would have to be in the $400+ category. My Bowers & Wilkins MM1's do outperform this speaker, but they come in at $500 and they are not Bluetooth capable. So, at this price point there is nothing like it on the market.
