Ibanez isn't the first to put an extra string or two on an electric guitar. They are, however, the first to make the concept really work. Just as the Ibanez thin, fast, ultra-playable Wizard neck seemed to defy physics when first introduced, their 7 and 8-String guitar necks utilize similar innovative technology. And what about down-tuning? Extended necks? Extra heavy string thicknesses? They didn't just address those challenges. They mastered them.
Check out this Steve Vai 7-string. Based on the original guitars that Steve Vai took to international acclaim. Fast, slim and ultra-playable 24-fret neck with perfectly matched DiMarzios® are just a few of the features that make this the super player's super-axe. Ohter features include: Contoured body with 24-fret neck provides easy access to all registers, Vai's choice of specific DiMarzio® pickups on models combined with Ibanez, Split-5 wiring provide incredible tonal versatility and a hard shell case. Everthing you need for your Passion and Warfare! Now at GTRstore.
Ibanez UV70P Premium Steve Vai Universe 7-String Guitar in Black Review
If you are interested in expanding your horizons (guitar-wise), I suggest you try a 7-string guitar. I used to own an 1990 Ibanez UV77MC Universe 7-string guitar. I really loved playing that guitar and it had an awesome tone. That was one solid guitar that stayed in tune and had superior hardware and electronics. I was lucky enough to have a genuine ATD Darren Johansen swirled paint job that was really cool. His stamp was in the neck pocket. Ibanez did re-issue the same Multi-colored swirled Universe a couple of years back (again by Darren Johansen), but they over commercialized it so only high dollar collectors could buy it at $6,000.00 a pop (NOT COOL!). Unfortunately, I ended selling my Ibanez Universe so I could buy a new Veleno Original aluminum guitar from Mr. John Veleno himself. Not to mention, also selling my 1988 Ibanez Steve Vai JEM 777DSY and I have been kicking myself ever since I sold both of those Steve Vai guitars. If I have a chance in the near future to ever get another Ibanez Universe, I'd like to have the UV7OP. Other than the Multi-colored Universe (the Ultimate Ibanez Universe), I think the UV7OP is a HOT looking guitar. The green on black color scheme is badass! It may take a little while to get used to that 7th string, which is tuned to a low B and the rest of the strings are tuned standard 440. Of course, you can drop your tuning like most contemporary Heavy Metal/Thrash bands do, but I prefer standard tuning, unless I play Van Halen which almost half of there songs are dropped down a half step. Anyway, it won't take long for you to get used to that 7th string. Only problem with seven strings is you can't thumb chords, unless you have abnormally large hands like Mr. Vai. The neck on those Universe guitar's feel amazingly comfortable and fast. Also, your right hand rest's comfortably on the bridge, as well. The FR bridge is floating, so you will have to have a light touch or you will go sharp. All in all, you can't beat the consistency and quality of Ibanez guitars. Especially, the Premium line. I hope this helps in your decision to try one, so keep on Rockin! All's fair and Rock and "Rol"!!!Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "Ibanez UV70P Premium Steve Vai Universe 7-String Guitar in Black" are high quality item.
