I picked this AVR after much research online and at audio specialty stores. I was open to any reputable brand that met basic home theater receiver needs. I was leaning toward the Onkyo TX-NR515 because of the supposed reputation and the myriad of features for a seemingly ridiculously low price. So I read all the Amazon reviews and every thing online I could find. Even though it appears there are firmware problems the deciding factor was talking to a salesperson at a top end audio store who told me when I looked at one in the store said he had one and wouldn't buy it. This receiver was picked up for $279 at Costco. It is the same as the Yamaha RX-V473 only sold at big box vs. Best Buy etc.Let me start by saying before you even hook it up, do yourself a favor and read the manual. Once you do the setup is in a logical progression and rather easy. The steps the manual takes you through will set the receiver up in my opinion exquisitely. I was able to use only HDMI cables for the TV and all the other inputs; Directv DVR, Blu Ray DVD, etc. HERE IS A workaround to connect to your network without having to buy the wireless adapter for $85-$100. If you have a Directv wireless connection to your network just plug an Ethernet cable to the receiver and the Directv wireless box and presto onto the network automatically and effortlessly.
My LED 240 HZ TV run from the receiver has never looked so good and the sound is like going from TV speakers to Home Theater. My previous receiver was a 7 year old Pioneer 5.1 receiver which was a wonderful workhorse but technology passed it by.
Once all was working and the speakers balanced and calibrated using the YPOA included setup which took all of 3-4 minutes I ran through the remaining setup items to fine tune a few settings and rename the HDMI inputs and tried all the different settings for the music and video and all I can say is I am wonderfully impressed and can't believe what a bargain this AVR was. The remote if one takes the time to really look at it is intuitive and really easy to use all the functions. The setup menus project to your TV and a cave man could set this AVR up. The NET radio is awesome with every kind of music one can imagine and the menu is very PC like bookmarks etc.
So with the reputation of Yamaha and the ease of operation of the HTR-4065 one can really be pleased and satisfied in all respects.
