We have all our A/V components in a cabinet and it was a real pain (yes, First World problem) having to leave the cabinet door open to operate them. This product quickly and inexpensively solved that problem. Setup was a breeze and only one device-- an old VCR-- would not work with it. Since we rarely use the VCR, that was no big deal. As others have mentioned, it helps to use a flashlight to locate the IR receiver "eye" on each device. Then I tested it first by holding the IR repeater emitter (before peeling off the tape) over where I thought the "eye" was, then holding the remote for the device in front of the remote IR receiver (which is out of the line-sight of the A/V equipment) and making sure the signal went through properly. Only then did I peel off the tape and stick the emitter to the device. It took me about 20 minutes to get it all set up and it works perfectly. As other reviewers have stated, the signal reception confirmation LEDs on both the IR receiver and the distribution block is very helpful.
