I purchased this product at walmart on clearance for $150. And it was money WELL spent. I tried all the major brand's and this one by far was the best in it's price range. The sony mhc-gx99 is a good system but it does not have the overall range this system provides plus it's bass levels are no where near as deep as this one. This system has has a max volume of level 50 but it shakes the walls at level 20 so that should tell you of it's overall power.

It has 9 different settings ranging from rock, jazz, concert, hall, etc. And it also has a heavy bass option and you can adjust the subwoofer from low, mid, to max levels. This thing gives out deep, rich bass that is really astonishing for a mere home stereo system. I also have a 1200 watt panasonic home theater system with a 350 watt sub and this thing will even give it a run for it's money.

Though I use this system in my home gym outside in my garage. Fills the room quite nicely with quality sound. System's total power output is 540 watts with a 180 watt sub. I also tried this years model the panasonic sc-ak750 that is 660 total watts power with a 220 watt sub. And I can tell you for sure this model had a better overall range and it's base levels were still deeper even at it's lesser total wattage.

This model was a real gem and I strongly suggest your purchase if you are looking for a good home stereo shelf set for one room. I'm not sure who still sells this model anymore but it's the best shelf set I've ever heard for under $300.
