These are great, I wore one out on many trips but it took ten years and it finally developed a short in the wire. The one that JVC replaced this with broke on the first trip so I found the old model to buy. I wish JVC would go back to this simple system that works with or without the batteries and fits into a pocket. I used this every night to listen to my music or teaching tapes non stop for 10 years before it broke.
